拾荒者手记-无碍
一首歌是如何创作出来的?
-3月中旬,老板与C(作曲之一)相约一起写首歌。
这首歌写得很快,只用了一个下午。两个人一起先是哼出一些旋律,哪段作为副歌,哪段作为bridge,再输入到电脑里,加上鼓等乐器,建出demo大框架,继续整合时,两个人再次进行旋律上的润色和编排。
C说,一遍遍弹唱合并的过程,感觉激发出了瀚哥‘骚气’的灵感(小编装作不懂的样子,问骚气的意思呀?答:“就是灵感给的很直接,也很对味儿,拿捏得刚刚好, 一般试唱去找编曲味道的时候,并不是很融合,哲瀚却很快就找到歌曲的味道。”)
歌曲demo出来后需要录唱,奈何楼上一直在施工,录制吉他声和人声时需要拾音,所以无法正常录音。而且装修声也似乎是带着节奏韵律的,这边老板刚进入录唱状态,楼上电钻就强势加入合唱阵营,贡献一嗓子;老板和C只得心平气和地喝茶等待,楼上分贝渐消,再欲开唱,那边轰轰地锤子声又万马奔腾地加入BGM;他俩最后只能对坐着干瞪眼。
-3.22,正式版demo出炉,进入填词阶段。
第一版歌曲名为《诗歌舞街》,取自中国香港的一个街道名,是Sycamore悬铃木的音译,表示最初的纯洁感情。歌词在描述一段失恋故事,意为多年后再次来到这个街道,身边有无数擦肩的人,歌者看到新人告白,而旧人已不在,更偏感情向。
老板与作词人进行了一些沟通,他觉得这首歌“感觉上是摇滚的,就不用太柔情,想做的方向其实不是一首情歌,歌名还是要更有共鸣一些”。
-3.25,第二版歌词《无害》出炉。
老板:“老师,你看过《恶意》吗?我想表达的其实没有那么peace,无害听起来像是无公害小白兔,叫无碍或者无爱都更有个性一点。”
阿尔不思(作词):“明白,但其实我们的旋律是往上走的,基调也没有那么晦暗低沉。”
老板:“有反差才会更刺激,我想表达一种很洒脱的无所谓,哪怕明天就是世界末日,那又怎么样呢,无非就是We’re gonna die嘛。有一瞬间,你会觉得想要卸下这些担子和责任,特别是到了我这个年纪和阶段,社会和生活责任都有,也不是说躺平或者内耗吧,因为有光就会有阴影,善和恶是有同等地位的,你要接受真实的人性,用歌曲表达和纪录某一瞬间的心境就够了。”
其实创作是一种自我暴露,如果你真诚地创作不免就会把内心最大程度的袒露出来,观众可以从文字、乐曲、眼神中看到创作者真实传递出的东西,几乎无可遮蔽。
-4.4,第三版歌词《kill me,kill the world》出炉。
“给我一颗子弹,在人海徘徊正中未来”
一改“可以直接一点,在人海中抹杀未来,或者谋杀未来呢”
-4月上旬,歌词&编曲基本成形,准备录音。
但在老板不断试唱中,总觉得有些段落唱起来不太对,可能还是得调整。经沟通商讨后决定延迟录音时间。这也是第一次在临近录歌时发生这样的小插曲。
-4.22,作曲修改。
星期三(另一位作曲老师)将主歌改为了念唱式的弦律写法,两段主歌形成对话的方式,让歌曲更具层次和态度一些,也更有个人的表达方式。因歌曲格式有所变动,歌词字数和逻辑也变了,所以再返回来改歌词。
-4.24,新版歌词《无碍》出炉,老板再次推敲。
-4.30,正式录音。
这首歌运用了很多真假声转换,甚至细化到某一句中哪几个字是真声,哪几个字是假声。
制作人说:“唱得太文明了,再‘脏’一点。”
-5.20,母带完成。
-5.21,设计老师出第一版封面图。
老板:“感觉全身可以多截一些更有感觉,有一种下坠感,不用切得那么近。”
-5.22,各尺寸继续调整。
-5.23,封面定稿,提交平台,等待两周后的上架。

Scavenger’s Note – Unchained
How is a song created?
In mid-March, Boss and C (one of the composers) decided to write a song together.
The melody came together quickly, taking only one afternoon. The two began by humming some melodies, deciding which parts would be the chorus and which parts would be the bridge. They then input these into the computer, adding drums and other instruments to build the demo’s framework. As they continued to refine the music, they further polished and arranged the melodies.
C commented that during the process of repeatedly playing and singing the merged parts, he felt like Han’s “charm” was inspired (when asked what “charm” meant, he replied, “It means the inspiration comes very directly and accurately. Usually, when trying out the arrangement, it doesn’t blend well, but Han quickly grasped the essence of the song.”).
Once the demo was ready, it needed to be recorded. However, there was continuous construction noise from upstairs, which interfered with recording the guitar and vocals. The noise seemed to follow a rhythm of its own. Just as Boss would get into the recording groove, the upstairs drill would join in, forcing them to take a break. They calmly drank tea while waiting for the noise to subside. When the noise level finally dropped, they would attempt to record again, only for hammering to start, disrupting the session once more. They ended up sitting across from each other, staring in frustration.
March 22: First Demo Completed, Lyrics Phase Begins
On March 22, the official demo was completed, and they moved on to the lyrics phase.
The first version of the song was titled “Poetry Dance Street,” named after a street in Hong Kong, a transliteration of Sycamore, symbolizing pure initial feelings. The lyrics described a story of lost love, reflecting on returning to this street years later, surrounded by new faces, seeing new couples confessing, while the old ones are gone, focusing on emotions.
Boss communicated with the lyric writer, expressing that the song “feels like rock, so it shouldn’t be too tender. I don’t want it to be a love song. The title should resonate more.”
March 25: Second Version of Lyrics “Harmless”
On March 25, the second version of the lyrics, “Harmless,” was completed.
Boss commented, “Have you read ‘Malice’? What I want to convey isn’t so peaceful. ‘Harmless’ sounds like a harmless little rabbit. Something like ‘Unaffected’ or ‘Loveless’ would have more character.”
Albus (the lyricist) responded, “I understand, but our melody is uplifting, and the tone isn’t that dark.”
Boss replied, “The contrast makes it more exciting. I want to express a carefree attitude, like ‘even if the world ends tomorrow, so what, we’re going to die anyway.’ There are moments when you want to shrug off burdens and responsibilities, especially at my age. It’s not about giving up or being passive. There’s light and shadow in everything; good and evil are equally important. Accepting true human nature and expressing a moment’s mindset through the song is enough.”
Creating is a form of self-exposure. If you create sincerely, you inevitably reveal your innermost self. The audience can see the true message through the words, music, and expressions, almost without any concealment.
April 4: Third Version of Lyrics “Kill Me, Kill the World”
On April 4, the third version of the lyrics, “Kill Me, Kill the World,” was completed.
“Give me a bullet, wandering in the sea of people, hitting the future right in the center”
It was then changed: “Could it be more direct, like ‘erase the future in the sea of people’ or ‘murder the future’?”
Early April: Lyrics & Arrangement Finalized, Recording Preparations
By early April, the lyrics and arrangement were mostly finalized, and they prepared for recording.
However, during repeated rehearsals, Boss felt some parts didn’t quite fit and needed adjustment. After discussion, they decided to delay the recording. This was the first time such an incident occurred so close to the recording date.
April 22: Composition Adjustment
On April 22, another composer, Wednesday, modified the main melody to a spoken-singing style, creating a dialogue-like structure for the verses, adding more layers and a personal touch to the song. Due to these changes, the lyrics needed further adjustments.
April 24: New Version of Lyrics “Unchained”
On April 24, the new version of the lyrics, “Unchained,” was completed, and Boss reviewed it again.
April 30: Official Recording
On April 30, they proceeded with the official recording.
The song used many transitions between natural voices and falsetto, down to specific words in certain lines.
The producer said, “It’s too clean; make it a bit ‘dirtier.’”
May 20: Master Completed
On May 20, the master sound track was completed.
May 21: First Version of Cover Design
On May 21, the designer presented the first version of the cover art.
Boss commented, “It would feel better if you can show more body, thus creating a sense of falling, rather than showing close-up.”
May 22: Continued Adjustments to Various Sizes
May 23: Final Cover Submitted for Platform Release, awaiting release two weeks later.
